College & Next

Each student has a really unique journey as they explore their path to college. At Magen David Yeshivah High School, our College Guidance Office works with each and every student and their family to make informed decisions regarding college placement.

College admissions is increasingly competitive and selective. Our dedicated team is led by Ms. Laura J. Miller, who brings 25+ years of experience as a College Guidance Director, and Ms. Seloi Beckford, who has extensive experience working as a college admission officer; both Ms. Miller and Ms. Beckford have a keen understanding of the nuances of the college admissions process, and help guide students and their families in regard to skills and strategies that will enable them to be prime candidates for admission.

Our College Guidance Process
Magen David Yeshivah High School’s College Guidance program counsels students every step of the way on their path to higher education. Information is presented to students and their families in a time-appropriate and sequential manner to ensure pertinent information regarding curriculum, standardized testing, college selection, activities, and matriculation. Ultimately, this developmental program decreases anxiety and empowers families to understand the intricacies of college admission. Our College Guidance Office offers the following programs for MDYHS families:

  • One-on-one meetings with students
  • Group workshops
  • Family college nights
  • Financial aid planning
  • College admissions representative visits
  • College visits
  • Application workshops

Additionally, every student is paired with a seasoned MDYHS Essay Advisor to help guide students with their college essays and supplements.

The college search and application journey is an exciting, yet multi-layered, process. The many schools our students attend are as varied and interesting as their passions and pursuits. Because our college approach is focused on finding the best school for each student, nearly all of our students attend their top choice school.
